Certification Programs

NATE

From the perspective of manufacturing, distribution, and contracting, there were concerns that many individuals installing and servicing HVAC equipment were lacking in the proper knowledge and experience to perform these tasks safely and effectively. As a result, in February of 1997 North American Technician Excellence (NATE) was incorporated. The NATE coalition was established with representation from the contracting, distribution, manufacturing, and utility communities.

Pearl

Pearl Home Certification makes high-performance home value visible and adds value to everyone. A Pearl Certification changes everything for a Pearl Contractor. Pearl provides third-party validation of your quality as a Pearl Certified Contractor. Pearl Certification helps you shift the conversation from price to value.

The Training Center

EPA 608 Universal Certification. This course includes the virtual LIVE preparation webinar, study materials, and practice quizzes with an online proctored final exam with UNLIMITED attempts. You will be able to attend a live or on-demand webinar, access self-paced training materials and a proctored exam to get your 608 Certification.

BPI

Many of the homes in this country were constructed before energy and building codes were established. In response to these issues the Building Performance Institute, Inc. was founded in 1993. BPI is now the cornerstone for the residential building performance industry.

RESNET

A Home Energy Rater begins with attending Rater Training classes. Training is required to become a certified Home Energy Rater. Some training providers offer a portion of their training online. To begin preparing prior to attending a rater training by studying the materials recommended by the training organization you have selected.

USGBC

In April 1993 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) was formed by three individuals, David Gottfried, Mike Italiano, and Rick Fedrizzi. LEED certified buildings save money, improve efficiency and lower carbon emissions. LEED buildings and communities will regenerate and sustain the health and vitality of all life. LEED offers many educational resources and courses.

HVAC Excellence was established in 1994 and is dedicated to improving the quality of education in the HVACR industry. They are dedicated to validating educational programs at each stage of an individual’s career. They also provide educators with valuable resources to help them become more effective in their roles.

ACCA

ACCA is the only nationwide, non-profit association for HVACR professionals. ACCA understands that as a HVACR professional you are extremely busy, so they are offering online courses that are available on their COMFORTU 24/7. Upon successfully passing of the exam a certificate of completion is issued. ACCA offers continuing credits through BPI, NATE, RESNET, RSES, ICC and HVAC Excellence.

Electrical Association

NFPA

Over 120 years ago small groups of people had ideas that eventually grew into the organization known today as the National Fire Protection Association. NFPA is widely known as a codes and standards organization and is the backbone of what they do today.
